Tie-dye and screen-printing training

As fashion gradually becomes a good source of income for many Fijians, young individuals have quickly picked up the interest to learn screen printing and tie-dye art.

Youths from Vunisea, Kadavu have taken the time to learn the art of tie-dyeing and screen-printing as a means to support them in the future by generating an income.

The Youth and Sports Ministry offered training to 25 young individuals on the island this month.

According to a ministry statement, the youths registered with the ministry to attend the three-day mobile skills training at Biana Bayview seafront.

The training, as highlighted in the statement, taught the participants how to tie-dye, bleach, paint and print fabric.

Vunisea Secondary School student Eparama Bainivalu said he was thankful to the ministry for the opportunity to broaden his vision through art.

The 15-year-old now has a new skill that can help him generate income in the future.

Most of the participants at the training were students of Vunisea Secondary School.
